Le Backgammon, un jeu de plateau à deux joueurs extrêmement populaire. Il présente une intéressante combinaison de jeu de hasard et de jeu de stratégie. Il est joué sous forme de centaines de variations comme le superbe jeu découvert dans une tombe royale d'Ur, en Chaldée et qui daterait du 25ème siècle avant notre ère ou les jeux découverts dans les tombes des pharaons de la haute dynastie et les Nardi persans à 12 cases qui évoquaient le calendrier solaire. Le plateau comporte 24 cases numérotées de 1 à 24. Chaque joueur dispose de 15 pions et c'est un lancer de dés qui détermine les mouvements de pions autorisés pour chaque joueur qui doit déplacer ses pions dans le deuxième quadrant du plateau en occupant les places libres ou en prenant les pions de l'adversaire puis les ramener à sa base. Le vainqueur de la partie est celui des deux joueurs qui a ramené tous ses pions à leur base. Le jeu se joue contre l'ordinateur à différents niveaux de difficultés, contre un adversaire local ou dont on connaît l'adresse Internet. Contre l'ordinateur vous pouvez reprendre vos coups en revenant en arrière ou rejouer une partie que vous avez sauvegardée. La prise en main intuitive de ce jeu permet de maîtriser rapidement des règles relativement complexes et d'élaborer des stratégies. L'aide en ligne et les menus sont toujours disponibles dans un coin de l'écran et s'ouvrent au passage de la souris. Un soin particulier a été apporté au confort visuel et de nombreuses options sonores ou graphiques aident à créer une confortable ambiance de jeu. Ce jeu 3D tourne sous Windows 9x avec un processeur à 500Mhz, ou équivalent équipé d'une carte accélératrice 3D compatible DirectX 8 ou plus et 8 MO de mémoire vidéo. Il s'installe et se désinstalle facilement. Idéal pour apprendre, ce jeu évoluera avec les joueurs puisque TLK Games garantit à vie la mise à jour de la version enregistrée de ses jeux.
