Like most people they learn how to read using the phonetics method. Each letter in a word is sounded out until it creates an entire word (B-O-O-K). You subvocalize each letter either outloud or in your mind until later in life when B-O-O-K becomes BOOK. A single word instead a combination of letters. Even though B-O-O-K is now BOOK you still say each work inside your brain - Sub vocalization. The subvocalization can be thought of as your inner thought.
