Le programme est destiné à simplifier la recherche de la solution des mots croisés, des casse-têtes verbaux, des anagrammes, des cryptarithmes et des puzzles (nonogramme, sudoku, kakuro, hitori, slitherlink, link-a-pix, fill-a-pix, battleship, hashiwokakero, masyu, light up, fillomino, futoshiki, kuromasu, nurikabe, tents). Cross+A possède de moyens souples et puissants de la recherche. L'utilisateur peut rechercher les mots d'après les lettres connues ou d'après les descriptions, il peut rechercher également les anagrammes et les groupes de mots. Le programme utilise le dictionnaire comportant 159000 mots anglais avec les descriptions (les bases de mots des langues allemande, française et d'autres sont disponibles à être téléchargées du site de programme). L'utilisateur peut ajouter les mots nouveaux, supprimer ou changer les descriptions des mots, ainsi que les copier dans le clipboard. Cross+A comprend le rédacteur graphique qui peut être utilisé pour la création des nonogrammes. Le programme comporte également la liste des proverbes et des dictons anglais.
