ShareISDN dient dazu, die Funktionen einer ISDN-Karte allen Anwendern in einem Netzwerk zur Verf?gung zu stellen. Zum Beispiel k?nnen alle Personen einer Firma ?ber eine einzige ISDN-Karte Faxe verschicken, Daten ?bertragen und im Internet surfen. Man k?nnte den gleichen Effekt erzielen, indem man jeden einzelnen Rechner mit einer ISDN-Karte ausstattet - was aber wesentlich teuerer und aufwendiger w?re (Installation der Karten, Verkabelung).
Installieren Sie einfach den ShareISDN Server (SISsetNT.exe f?r WindowsNT/2000/XP, SISset95.exe f?r Windows95/98/MI) auf dem Rechner, welcher die ISDN-Karte enth?lt, und ShareISDN Client (SICsetup.exe) auf den Rechnern, welche diese ISDN-Karte mitbenutzen sollen.
Sie k?nnen fast jede Applikation auf den Client Rechnern einsetzen, welche die CAPI 2.0 Spezifikation unterst?tzt. CAPI 2.0 ist das Standard Programmierinterface f?r ISDN-Karten, und fast alle ISDN-Applikationen unterst?tzen es. Die weitverbreitete Fritz!-Software ist kompatibel mit ShareISDN.
Die Funktion des ShareISDN-Pakets wird auch als "Remote Capi", "Lan Capi" oder "Network Capi" bezeichnet, um die besondere Charakteristik herauszustellen: das gesamte Capi-Interface der ISDN-Karte wird auf den Client-Rechnern zur Verf?gung gestellt.
ShareISDN ist kompatibel zum Remote Access Service (RAS), so da? Sie ?ber ShareISDN auch Internet-Verbindungen aufbauen k?nnen. Ebenfalls kann die T-Online-Software in der Version 3.0 und 4.0 zusammen mit ShareISDN genutzt werden.
ShareISDN kann momentan noch nicht eingesetzt werden, wenn mehrere Anwender EINE EINZELNE Internet Einwahl-Verbindung nutzen sollen. (Siehe auch "Die n?chsten Erweiterungen")
Sie k?nnen eine Internet Verbindung ?ber ShareISDN aufbauen, aber Sie k?nnen sie nicht gemeinsam mit anderen Anwendern nutzen. Andere Anwender k?nnen ebenfalls mit ShareISDN eine Internet Verbindung ?ber dieselbe ISDN-Karte aufbauen, aber nur als separate, zus?tzliche Einwahl-Verbindung.
