Dieses PC-Programm hilft bei wiederholt vorkommenden Tastatur-Eingaben insbesondere von Text: Eingabe langer Wörter oder von Standard-Wendungen, und auch beim Wiederherstellen verlorener Text-Stücke. Es bewährt sich besonders beim Eingeben von formalsprachlichem Text (z.B. HTML), beim Ausfüllen von Formularen und beim technischen und kommerziellen Schreiben. Außerdem kann es Langsamschreibern und Personen mit eingeschränkter Schreibfähigkeit eine Hilfe sein. VK TypeHelp kann auch als ein Hilfsmittel zum Bearbeiten von Text in gegebenem Zusammenhang gesehen werden.
Das Programm ist einem Assistenten des Schreibers vergleichbar, der neben diesem sitzt und die Folge von dessen Tastatur-Eingaben beobachtet. (Oder auch mal ein Stück Text aus der Zwischenablage liest.) Nach einiger Erfahrung wird der Assistent vernünftige Text-Fortsetzungen gemäß früheren Vorkommen des Kontextes vorhersagen und vorschlagen. Wenn der Benutzer einen der Vorschläge akzeptiert, gibt der Assistent den anstelle des Benutzers in die aktive Anwendung ein.
Mit einfachen Tastendrücken wählt, verkürzt und bestätigt der Benutzer einen Vorschlag. Vorentscheidungen über künftig zu nutzenden Text sind nicht erforderlich. Wort- und Feldinhalts-Grenzen begrenzen nicht explizit den Vorschlag.
